The Rotary Club of Milwaukie, Oregon, is pleased to welcome two new members to its Board of Trustees meeting today. The Rotary Club is the oldest and most active club in the country, with over 30 years of membership, and is pleased to welcome two of its youngest members to the gathering today. In addition to our volunteer work in the annual competitions, we are also active in local community events such as the annual Christmas Tree Lighting and are an active member of a number of local charities and community organisations.

Rotary Club of Milwaukie, Oregon, is proud to continue its partnership with the Clackamas Fire Department and supports Imagine Scholar, which provides scholarships to talented and deserving students. Oregon has partnered with Clacksama Fire, and this October marks the third consecutive year that Oregon Firefighters and the Oregon Department of Public Safety (OPD) have partnered with Oregon State University, the University of Oregon and other local organizations. Oatfield Estates is located in the hills of Milwaukie, which has a population of more than 2,000 people and an average annual income of $70,500. The Oregon and California Railroad renamed its station "Milwaukee" in 1870, but corrected it to Milwaukee in 1892 and expanded its line to Oregon City the following year. In the photo, a steamship can be seen on the far left, showing a map of how long Mil waukies was connected to Portland downstream and Oregon City upstream. The Oregon & California Railway, the first passenger railway in the country, began operating on the Willamette River in the late 18th century and connected Portland to Eugene. Daily traffic in both directions was introduced on a trial basis in August 1980 and stopped at the end of 1981. However, in October 1981, traffic between Portland and Eugene began at least once a day, once every two weeks.
